Hmmm... I always thought Joseph was Jacob's youngest son. I learned today that Benjamin was.

  1. I remembered that but always forget that Rachel died giving birth to him. Sad. (Beth Moore makes some great points about the birth order and about which sons were born to which mother in The Patriarchs bible study.)

One interesting thing I saw - in this version at least - in 32:30 Jacob named the place where he wrestled with the angel Peniel, which means "face of God" for he said I have seen God face to face and my life has been spared. Then in 33:10 when he saw Esau he described it as "like seeing the face of God". I looked up those scriptures in a commentary and it didn't make a connection but I have to wonder if because Esau didn't kill him when he had every right to Joseph made that comparsion.

And on a side note: I don't know at what point we decided that the world is becoming more and more corrupt, cause they were sick sick sick back in the beginning and really had nothing on the modern day world.
