It's interesting that we have gone from Genesis to Job.

I thought is was funny that the first verse starts out like a kids cute little story; There once was a man named Job who lived in the land of Uz. Did anything new or interesting jump out at anyone? We'd love to hear from someone new!

  1. I noticed the leap to Job also. Under the date it says that the account of Job was thought to have taken place around the same time as Abraham, Isaac & Jacob or shortly thereafter. I usually think of the stories as running consecutively and not being connected. So I like the way this version helps to weave the stories together.

Shivers went down my spine when Satan answered the Lord with "I have been patrolling the earth, watching every thing that's going on". I have to believe that Satan hasn't changed since 2200bc and the thought that he is patrolling the earth is kind of scary and makes me want to be on the look out.

I liked the part where Job's 3 friends shared his anguish by wailing loudly and tearing their robes. And wasn't it cool that they just sat on the ground with him for 7 days and no one said a word because they saw his suffering was too great for words. I need to remember that the next time I'm searching for something to say to a greiving friend.

  2. Interesting that we begin Job right on the heels of the Haiti disaster.
